Reflection on the current COVID-19 crisis and isolation during project duration
Over the past few months, when in lockdown, I have been considering my voice and position as a white privileged woman living in a systemically racist country.
This piece reflects the conflicted state of being I feel when conveying my time spent in the vast and beautiful landscape of Australia. I am cautious of my position and voice, I hope that I am conveying my experience in a culturally considerate and appropriate way. I understand that my perspective is one of white privilege. I know that to be an authentic ally it takes a daily process of self-reflection, education and listening.
I hope that my art is an invitation for open conversation and a movement towards change, that my voice can join the many fighting for equality within Australia.
